My next bit of sewing was for my sister. It is a wrap around skirt. I am thinking I wouldn’t mind one as well. It was dead easy to make with the only time consuming bit being the fact I made bias binding for the skirt. Getting the waist band just right was also a little trying as I had to work out the radius of the circle. I was then fortunate enough to come across this site.
This here is where I got the pattern from.
Little Miss Gold escaped again! She was found and securely housed by aManda (she is staff and was looking after the elder two while we had some business to attend) http://www.jethromanagement.biz/node/46
Of course J9 and M12 helped in the actual capture of the run away.
We think Miss Gold is lonely as she hasn't ever tried to escape until her house mate went visiting. Well, it is either that or she is just being a delinquent teen mouse! We will bring her house mate home soon.

In other news, I have finally finished my sister's hoody shirt. It is a little different from what the original plan (it is a shirt, and is hooded though), but hopefully she will like it. Maybe I will make something more appropriate when it is closer to her birthday.
About midday I headed out to give the front bushes a major cut back because they were getting too big and crowding over the path to the front door. There is so much more open space out there now.
The younger two decided to be birds and make themselves a nest. Then J9, who was avoiding her school work, decided to join in and help them, and just as I grabbed the camera, M12 decided she had to be in on it also.
They did help clean it all up afterwards and brought it out to the garden bale.
I did it again, I sewed. This time I finished up E6's requests and made her overdress. (It is to go over her togs when we go to the pool, or for around the house - she wears her togs most summer around the house)
For the dress I just used an oversized dress as the pattern and traced around the top half of it. And since I was being lazy and knew it didn't have to look perfect, I just overlockered the seams and edges. One other thing that I did do was sew in a piece of shirring elastic around the waist/under the bust area to make it more fitted without the use of a belt.
She likes it, and that is all good.
I did what I said I wouldn't do. I sewed. I was trying to work out how best to make myself a top/dress and then the kids came up, wanting things made, scrounging through my material stash and putting out requests.![]()
I gave in!
I made M4 a pair of pale pink 'togs/swimwear'. The front of the top and the bikini part are both lined. They each have some of my excess picot elastic gracing them also. I guess they could double as underwear, but no doubt they will get good use for both purposes (swimming and underwear).
M4 loves them so that is all good, and I must say, they are the best pair of pants I have made yet.
