IMG_6126We have a wedding to attend in a couple of weeks time, so in order for us to shock and surprise everyone we decided to go in clean, unstained, new clothes. Well the kids decision for that was all my doing. So, being the overworked mum that I am, I decided to add more to my list of things to do and started in on making them some clothes. So far I have only cut out my dress, completed a tan capelet, tan faux suede belt and E7’s pretty dress (mostly designed by her).IMG_6118

For the capelet I used some left over faux suede and winged it. M5 loves it. It has a snap button closure for ease of use and because I didn’t feel like making button holes. I will do that on her dress. It is lined with white brushed cotton so should provide some warmth if it does get a little cool.

For the dress (to the left) it was a case of modify an existing patter, put on puffy sleeves, add a panel in the front and sew in an under dress (which doubles as lining and keeping in a little added extra warmth). I don’t expect it will last past the night  so it won’t be kept for good outings only, but will be something she can wear to church or for dress ups. She loves it and that is the main thing.IMG_6114

The belt was relatively easy and was made of the same faux suede as the capelet. It is reinforced with interfacing and made use of the many eyelets that I have. It was a very easy and simple job to do.
